Imabari towels

The association’s public line places Imabari before the wider movement to Japan and the world. Imabari Towel also appears among regional collective trademark examples; in plain terms, the place name, product name, and producer community are tied together. Under that name are city addresses, association activities, absorbency and safety language, and a household towel meant to take up water in everyday use.

The May 19, 2026 member directory gives a count of 68 companies and pairs company names with representatives and addresses. Abeharu Factory appears in Onishi, IKEUCHI ORGANIC in Engi, Inoue Towel in Muroya, and Imai Towel in Namikata, all within Imabari City. Other listings reach Saijo and Matsuyama, so the producer network can be read through towns, company names, and named representatives rather than through a single workshop image.

The association places excellent absorbency and high safety at the front of its quality language. Those phrases make a towel practical: water, wiping, and reassurance are part of the same household object. Towel sommeliers are presented as advisors for choosing towels, and the association’s language around reassurance, safety, and high quality points to the same everyday standard.

On the making side, sakizarashi-sakizome is named as a characteristic technique of the Imabari towel producing area. The Japanese term keeps process vocabulary at the front, and the making flow is explicitly multi-stage. Towel production requires specialized techniques and, when needed, cooperation with related factories, so a finished household towel carries work shared across more than one step or site.

The association’s training activity gives skill a set of places to move through. Sewing courses are offered at beginner and intermediate levels, in-house skill testing addresses company-level technique, and Towel Academy programs include sensibility-focused courses and a skill-focused Silver course. Human resource development becomes concrete through course names, tests, and 2026 activities that keep making knowledge and selection knowledge in circulation.
